A fairer rota starts
with visible choices.
Keep availability, hours and locked decisions intact. Compare who carries the burden before you choose a schedule.
01 · PEOPLE
Who can help?
Set each person's maximum hours for this week.
02 · COVERAGE
What needs covering?
Half-hour increments. Overlapping assignments are never allowed.
03 · AVAILABILITY & CHOICES
Make the constraints explicit.
For each person and shift: mark availability, choose an inconvenience weight from 0–10, or lock a required assignment. A lock never overrides availability or hour limits.
How burden is countedHours × (1 + inconvenience weight), added across a person's shifts. We minimize the highest individual burden first, then squared burdens, then total burden. Weights are your choices, not inferred personal facts.
04 · REVIEW THE EVIDENCE
One set of constraints. Two views.
Reviewed schedule
Lock a reviewed assignment to preserve it, then regenerate the remaining rota.
